Accountability

Corrections & accountability

How we intend to handle mistakes once the publication launches. This policy describes our plan — the correction workflow itself is not operational yet.

Everyone makes mistakes; what matters is how a publication handles them. When Howdy Bothell launches, our approach will be:

  • Fix it visibly. Factual errors will be corrected in the story, with a note saying what changed and when.
  • Keep the record. Stories will show their publication and update dates, so readers can see the history.
  • Make it easy to tell us. Every story will carry a clear way to flag a possible error for an editor.
  • A human decides. Corrections will be reviewed and approved by an editor, never automated.

Because the publication hasn't launched, there is no live correction request channel yet. This page describes the policy we're building toward — not a working workflow.
